Culture in Peniche
Peniche: Peniche has around 20000 residents and is to the most part a peninsula. It is famous for its fishoilproduction and the old harbour with its 400 year old castle. Peniche has a University of Seatechnology. At the harbour you find a whole lot of fish restaurants that provide you with good and cheap traditional portuguese kitchen.
Baleal: Baleal is also situated on a peninsula that not too long ago actually used to be an island. In summertime the beachbars and restaurants provide all kind of evening and night entertainment. In wintertime baleal puts a spell on you with its stormy silence.
Obidos: Obidos is located 30km north of peniche. Obidos is known for its almost 900 years old castle and the even older church.
Berlengas: Berlengas Island is located 12km into sea from peniche. Berlengas invites its guests with crystal clear(but cold) water for snorkeling or taking a tour with kayaks into
Lourinha: Lourinha is 25km south of peniche and well known for its "area branca"(white beach). As baleal provides everyone with enough beach the most interesting thing in Lourinha becomes the skatepark which is always worth the travel. Next to the skatepark there´s a bar selling beers for 70 cent.
